GHOST OWL (Throw) - AGF Pure Solids version

Living in rural Connecticut means sharing the landscape with all kinds of wildlife. Years ago, we had barn owls living somewhere near our house. Although I rarely saw them, I definitely heard them! Their cries were surprisingly loud and intense, quite different from the familiar hoot most people associate with owls.

I haven't heard them in years, but the memory stayed with me. Whenever I think about those nighttime visitors, I can still imagine them gliding silently through the darkness like little ghosts. That memory became the inspiration for my newest quilt pattern, Ghost Owl.

AGF Pure Solids were absolutely dreamy to work with. I intentionally chose a lighter background for this version since the cover quilt features a darker one. I always enjoy creating different colorways to showcase the many possibilities this pattern offers.

There are quite a few pieces to cut and sew, so staying organized is one of the keys to success! Be sure to download the fabric organization sheet and labels before you begin—they'll help keep everything sorted and make the process much easier.

The owl blocks and cloud unit are fairly straightforward to sew. Some of you may find the full-circle moon unit a bit more challenging, but don't worry! The pattern includes printed templates (for the paper pattern) and printable templates (for the digital pattern), along with step-by-step instructions to guide you through sewing the moon unit.

Mettler Silk-Finish Cotton thread 60wt (color no.60) for the machine quilting.

Quilted on BERNINA Q16.

Plum Preserve (PE493) for the binding.

Happy quilting!
