Hello, my name is Satomi.
I’m originally from rural northern Japan and now live in beautiful northwest Connecticut with my husband and our two teenagers.

I began quilting more than ten years ago when my husband’s mother—an experienced quilter from Lancaster County, Pennsylvania—offered to teach me. From her, I learned hand appliqué, hand quilting, paper piecing, and other techniques she had spent decades mastering and sharing with others. The very first quilt I made with her guidance changed my life! Since then, I’ve been creating quilts and handmade items for my family as well as for local charitable causes.

Designing quilt patterns and making quilts has become one of my greatest joys. I draw inspiration from nature, the places I’ve been fortunate to visit and live, and the many wonderful people I’ve met around the world through quilting.

I hope my creations inspire you to find joy in what you love, too.
