How to Make an 8" Circle Mug Rug Using 4" x 6" FPP Block
Turn your FPP blocks into a cozy handmade mug rug! This pattern uses four 4" x 6" FPP blocks and creates an 8" circle (unfinished size).

You need:
- (1) FPP medium block (finished size: 4" x 6") - A
- Background fabric (1) Fat Eighth (9" x 21" cut fabric)
Cut,

- (2) 6 ½" x 2 ½" – B
- (2) 1 ½" x 8 ½" – C
-
-
- Backing fabric (1) 9 ½" SQ
- Batting (1) 9" SQ
- Bias binding (1) 25" long

Note:
§ The cutting instructions include ¼" seam allowance.
§ RST = Right Sides Together
§ Sew the pieces with RST.
§ Sew with ¼" seam allowance.

Instructions:
1. Sew Rectangles B to both the right and left sides of Block A. Press seams.
2. Sew Rectangles C to the top and bottom. Press seams.
3. Place the backing fabric right side down, with the batting on top. Then place the mug rug top right side up. Baste the layers together and quilt.

4. Print the templates and cut out the 8" circle.
5. Trace the circle onto the quilted piece and cut it out with scissors.
Option: Sew 1/8" inside the marked line before cutting to secure the quilting thread ends.


6. Make the bias tape. (Refer to the tutorials.)
7. Attach the binding to the front side, securing it with clips or pins, then sew.

8. Turn the binding to the back side and stitch in place.
Option: Use fabric glue and press lightly to hold the binding in place before sewing.
