This quilt pattern is made by Satomi Hoar of Satomi Quilts.
Living in rural Connecticut means sharing the landscape with wildlife. Years ago, barn owls nested near our home. Though I rarely saw them, their haunting calls echoed through the night and left a lasting impression. I haven't heard them in years, but I still imagine them gliding silently through the darkness. This quilt is inspired by those memorable nighttime visitors and the wonder of living close to nature.
The Ghost Owl Quilt features traditionally pieced owl blocks and cloud units, along with curved piecing for the moon units. It is recommended for intermediate to advanced quilters.
The instructions include:
- Printable templates for the moon unit
- Two full quilt sizes using 15" x 12" blocks: crib (55″ × 46″) and throw (72″ × 60″)
- Cutting tables for making a single block: 15 inch square
- Step by step instructions with detailed diagrams
- Technique: traditional piecing and curved piecing
